I know there is a plan for me.... I just wish I knew what it was!

So, I am an aide at an Elementary school for now. They originally had me in the sixth grade, then moved me to Kindergarten (yeah!!!) It is interesting.... I am an aide for a first year teacher who was in the same program as me last year. I kind of feel like the bridesmaid and not the bride.....
I am still looking for a teaching position - which is such a roller coaster ride.... the hope is there, the anticipation of being hired, the depression when you get the rejection letter. This week I interviewed at Sunrise Elementary in Canyons District, and Woodstock Elementary in Granite.
I am excited to finally feel settled in my new place, comfortable in my new ward, and friends with my new roommates. Life is good!

Life at the Airport

I have a job! Yeah!!! It is at The Salt Lake City Airport. Life is interesting at the airport..... Now that I work there, I feel like I LIVE there.
I will recap some interesting scenes:
The Cat Lady: There was one lady who needed help with her 4 (Yes - 4) cats. All in cute little carriers, but cats none the less. I also thought cat women were more of the recluse type...
I love watching people - like the teenager today who gave her mother the best "whatever" look with teen attitude.
Oh, there are the missionaries! From farewells to homecomings. So sweet! The other night there were like 5 on the row of payphones, all sitting in wheelchairs, talking to their folks.
Oh, and I get to ride on the cart through the airport. It is sooo fast! (Yes- you'd better watch out!!!)
I love "riding" the jetway out to the plane, you know, when it moves to meet the door of the plane.

Speaking of jobs - I am now an aid at Roosevelt Elementary in - (you will never guess this! ) the 6th grade! Oh, they are such fun kids!

Ciao all!

Job Search

I do not want to say that I gave up on my teaching job search - but I have just added another pot to the burner. I need to find a job, any job, NOW. This has been an interesting search - as I am willing to do just about anything....
Here is my list of the most interesting jobs
Carriage Driver: you know the white carriages around temple square.... I would drive the carriage. Funny thing is that I have never been on a horse... but it said "no experience neccessary!"
Ice Cream Truck Driver: this would be fun - all the kids running toward you and all - but I would probably go crazy listening to the music all day!
Pizza Delivery: Who wouldn't want me on their doorstep with a pizza?
McDonalds: Yes, you can have it your way!
Party Supply Store: I am a great party planner!
Well, wish me luck - someone has to hire me!

Grandpa

This week my Grandfather, Mileo DeJohn, passed away. Let me tell you about him.....
He was pretty cool guy.
He fought in World War II. He was a glorified hero in the states for capturing three japs single handedly. Actually, they were deserters from the Japanese Army, hiding for days, starving, and my Grandfather came across them....
He was a true Grandpa.... always on our side..... when I wanted a hot dog at a nice restaurant he said sure. When I wanted to go on a date when I was 12, he said "let the girl go have some fun".....
He believed in America. He was a councilman for Detroit for years. My favorite picture of him and his wife with The Clintons.
He never gave up..... my grandmother did not allow him to see his two daughters, or even let him know where they were. Even though he went on two have like 7 kids with his second wife, he never gave up on finding his daughters, even hired a private investigater.
This is more about Grandma - and here collection of donkeys (symbol for Democrats). She is in the Guiness book of world records for this.
I can't believe he is gone, but I am grateful for the time we had. Love you Grandpa!

YW Camp

I seriously had so much fun at yw camp! I have to say, I was a bit nervous starting out - if I remembered to pack everything that we needed and stuff - but it all turned out great!

We camped in Ogden Canyon, at Camp Atoka. Our theme was BUGS - Blossoming Uniquely and Growing Spiritually. I was amazed at the creativity from each ward - from ladybug visors to dragonfly earrings - every bug was refelected beautifully!

I have to admit - our ward was saved by the genorousity of our Priesthood Leader - who is the handiest man to have around. Seriously- we would have been camping on tarps and calling out for pizza if he had not been there. Plus - he was so happy just to spend some time with his daughter.

I loved the skits the girls did - our ward did one on the full armor of God. I will not forget however, the skit with lightning bugs- whenever you perform an act of service your but lights up - lets all light our butts!

Finally, we were able to float down the river and just relax in intertubes! It was so nice to cool off!!!!

I really do have the best calling - and I was able to build friendships with the YW and the other leaders.

A trip down memory lane....

So, let's go back in time... to just about twelve years ago. I had just traveled across the country - to the great land of Rexburg, Idaho. I just moved into my new apartment with like zero belongings, and I was a little nervous... That is when I met Sherri. We became friends & roommates instantly!
So, yesterday, it was fun to see her - since I have not seen her in twelve years. She helped me make the bandanas for girls camp. Then she shared all (well some) of her crafting secrets - cause she is the craftiest of them all! Really! She showed me how to make tutu's ( cause every girl needs a tutu - ) ! Then, she showed me how to make hair bows and clips. It was really fun to see her - and her three little girls! Thanks Sherri!!!

Wonder Woman Award

I see wonderful women in the world pretty often. Sometimes, there are those that really deserve an award for being so amazing. I started babysitting for a Wonder Woman achiever about a month ago. She is my age, 30, and like me, she is single. She wanted to make a difference in the world, and she loves kids. She started taking foster children into her home. Not just one - she started with 2 sisters, then 2 brothers. Then she adopted all four. I am amazed and awed by her caring and her bravery! What a wonder woman!!!
