Run, Peggy, Run!

My new goal is to become a runner. What? Me, a runner? You are talking to a girl who was tormented as a child, for not being able to run very fast. I could barely run the mile in high school. I have always wanted to be able to run - so I am going to do it. Starting today. I will run 5 days a week - and I know I will get better. I started today with seeing how long I could run continuously. Woohoo - I went 1/4 of a mile. So, I alternated walking and running every 1/4 mile. It actually felt pretty good! Great! My challenge has begun. So, what can you do to support me? Come run with me!

That's AWESOME!!!!! There is a book called RUNNING WITH ANGELS. I think you may like it. It's an LDS author. Also, if you use itunes there are two podcasts similar to the title of "couch to 5K". I had a friend that did it and she was in some really bad shape when she started. It sounds like the podcast is a great one. It trains you by telling you when to walk and when to run. It starts you out slow and before you know it, you're running 2.5 miles.
Good luck my friend! I haven't learned to enjoy running yet, but I sure enjoy those races. They inspire me to keep running. (As do the large amount of calories burned in a short amount of time). :)

I hate running, but I think I would love to run with you:) I'm not much of a runner either, but I always do better with a partner. You'll have to keep us updated on your progress.

Way to go Peggy. I don't usually go for these "everyday" blogs, but you mentioned you were briefly homeless. I too have battled homelessness, and blog about it at riograndereport.blogspot.com.

Good luck in your personal improvement.

Go Peggy!!! That is awesome! I alternate running/walking in my workouts and find that helps me with my motivation to run!
